Schuyler, my old roommate from Rome, visited me in London for a few days and I decided to tag along with her to Oxford to visit her sister, who is doing her PhD there. We spent the entire day in this picturesque university town, laughing, chatting, struggle-punting and ending the day with a pint in the smallest pub known to man. Oxford - good for a day trip, but London is where the heart is.

The Blue City, Morocco
Posted on 8:41 PM by elly with No comments
It was nearing the end of May of 2012, and I was sitting on my AirBerlin flight back from Düsseldorf to America after 5 months of traveling all over Europe. As we were getting ready for take off, I flipped through an in-flight magazine and was completely awestruck when I saw a spread on 'The Blue City' of Chefchaeoun in Morocco. I told myself if I were to ever come back to Europe, traveling here would be at the top of my list.

A Town Called Poitiers
Posted on 8:34 PM by elly with No comments
"Why Poitiers?" is the question I'd been asked by locals. It's not your typical tourist destination in France. But I'd just finished traveling to Paris and Bordeaux, and figured I'd squeeze in one more city on my holiday that I'd not yet visited. A lot of Ryainair searches and Google Image searches later, I decided to make my way to Poitiers.
It was the most adorable little French city that made my heart melt. I couchsurfed a total stranger's house for one night, who turned out to an extremely creative and talented artist. He crafted all his furniture from scratch and would make interesting home pieces out of anything and everything he could find.
