I watched the documentary Born Into Brothels this week which documents the lives of children who live in the Red Light District of Calcutta. These adolescents were given lessons by photographer Zana Briski who believed in the power to transform children's lives through art. One kid got selected to showcase his pictures in Amsterdam, allowing him to explore his career options in photography. Although I have no skill with a camera whatsoever, my dream job would to travel the world as a photojournalist. After watching this documentary, I was inspired to sign up for some photography classes in Italy... speaking too soon, but we'll see where this leads.
This photograph was taken by a 14 year of girl named Suchitra. Probably one of my favorites from the shots taken by the children.
